Believe it or not, the word PASSION actually means struggle and often, suffering.

So, COMPASSION (Com - passion) means to struggle or suffer alongside someone else, or to share in another's trouble.

COMPASSIONATE MINISTRIES
Following the example of Jesus, we seek to clothe, shelter, feed, heal, and ultimately empower those who suffer. Because NCM (Nazarene Compassionate Ministries) exists in and through the Church, we are able to address spiritual concerns alongside physical needs. Our ministries are holistic – addressing the whole person – and sustainable – addressing immediate needs while securing a hopeful future for individuals and their communities.

Disasters strike without warning. Economies crash. Illness can sweep through an area and devastate communities. It is essential for NCM to be prepared and equipped to effectively minister, bringing a comforting touch, a healing hand, and the love of God when quick action is necessary. The greatest needs cannot always be foreseen.

Donations to NCM are investments in the hope and future that Jesus offers the poor and suffering in our world. We can dream as big as the church will allow, through its continued prayers and financial support. We depend entirely upon God to meet our financial needs through churches and individuals. Your gifts help weave compassion into the fabric of our church around the world.

NMI has come alongside NCM in leading the Nazarene church in living out compassion. The Nazarene Compassionate Ministries coordinator on the district NMI and/or local NMI council offers encouragement of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries worldwide through prayer support, giving, education, and hands-on opportunities.

December is Compassionate Ministries Emphasis month in the Church of the Nazarene. The Board of General Superintendents designated December to encourage a spirit of compassion and personal involvement among Nazarenes everywhere. NCM's prayer is that social holiness would erupt in every local church and that we could come alongside faithful members and resource them to serve.
