PRESIDENT, PRAIRIE BIBLE INSTITUTE
While on vacation in Alberta recently, Pastor Grant stopped by PRAIRIE BIBLE INSTITUTE in Three Hills, AB. He was fortunate enough to find president Mark Maxwell on campus, and willing to say "hello" and spend some time with him.
The mission of PBI is, "To know Christ, and to make Him known", so similar to our own.
Some words from president Mark:
L.E. Maxwell, Prairie’s co-founder and my grandfather, shared that “none of us dreamed what God was going to do out here on these barren prairies.” In truth, no one could have dreamed that over the years 17,000 students would leave this place prepared to serve God in 114 countries around the world. Our prayer is that you will join that legacy, that all of us in this community will catch a glimpse of the need that is so evident at home and abroad, and in response, take up the call to obey.
We hold four key values that motivate what we do and what we teach: First, we are Christ-centered. He is our Life and we have purposed to know Him more deeply. Secondly, by the time our students cross our stage and receive their diploma, we trust that they will have been transformed by teaching grounded in God’s Word. Thirdly, as life-long learners and followers of Jesus, we are discipleship-oriented, committed to serving and building up one another. Finally, we are driven to ministry and missions.
I understand that students can prepare for a career or get a good education in a lot of places. At Prairie, our aim is to go beyond just that. No matter where they go after they graduate, our desire is that our students will be equipped and empowered to be an effective disciple of Christ: going into the world, praying, teaching others, speaking in word or action into world issues such as injustice, abuse and poverty, in His name and in His Spirit.
We are grateful that Mark has offerred and agreed to speak here at Cedardale church on Sunday, October 28th at our 10:00 a.m. service. Come and hear his heart for the gospel of Christ, for educating this and coming generations. PBI is also the home of Servant Magazine and (editor and author) Phil Callaway, who spent some time in our neighbourhood, as guest speaker at Men's Retreat, a decade or so ago.
